
MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister of Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider apprised on a Sunday that a verdict has been taken “in-principle” to re-enforce a territory-wide lockdown after mounting in Covid-19 infection.
Prime Minister of GoAJ&K Raja Farooq Haider, giving the reasons for the lockdown, told that the territory’s Covid-19 positivity rate had raised to 8.3% is higher than as compared to any area in Pakistan.
This decision was taken during a high-level meeting presided by Prime Minister GoAJ&K Raja Farooq Haider wherein it has been agreed that religious and social gathering will be shortened.
PM GoAJ&K gave direction to the authorities to start checking at entry points of the AJ&K. He also added that Government promulgated safety protocols should be carried out in public transport and educational institutions.
He further apprised that wearing a mask is obligatory for the citizen as and when they come out of their homes and at offices.
On March 23, the State was gone down into a wide lockdown down subsequent to “smart” lockdowns were erratically applied.
In the territory of AJ&K, 23, 22, and 40 cases of Covid-19 were registered on October 1, 2, and 3, respectively, up from 3, 1, and 7 on September 2, 3, and 4.
Now the total number of Covid-19 cases in AJ&K is recorded 2,816, over 70 deaths, and more than 2,408 recoveries, as per official facts.
After the decision “in-principle” was declared, Prime Minister GoAJ&K Raja Farooq Haider made a tweet and directed the authorities concerned to prepare the lockdown policy within two days:

“How can we, with limited resources, triumph over Covid-19, when the world’s major economies could not tackle it,” he apprised.
“Sooner than the situation gets out of hand, we have to take extreme measures,” PM AJ&K said.
