Babar Azam Equals Historic Test Record After Another Huge Score in First Test day First

Babar Azam has turn out to be the 7th Pakistani batsman to register scores of over 50 runs in 5 consecutive Test innings. At the end of Day 1, Babar Azam was not out at 69 which included 11 fours. His partner, Shan Masood, was unbeaten at 46 when umpires called off the day due to bad light.

In his last 5 innings, the star batsman has amassed 3 centuries and 2 half-centuries. These innings have come against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and now England. He has scored 102*, 60, 100*, 143, and 69* in his previous 5 outings.

If not for his 8 runs at Adelaide in the second innings of the Test against Australia, Babar Azad would have had 8 scores of 50+ considering he made 97 and 104 in two innings before that against the same opposition.

The other Pakistanis who have achieved this milestone include Zaheer Abbas, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar and Sarfaraz Ahmed. Zaheer Abbas, Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf have made 6 consecutive scores of over 50 runs.

The record for most consecutive 50 (Fifty) plus scores is held jointly by Sir Everton Weekes, Andy Flower, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara, Chris Rogers, and KL Rahul.
