A notification has been issued by Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) for the establishment of a university at Punjab House Murree.
The commission has given consent for the establishment of Kohsar University in Punjab House Murree with admissions starting in September and October. The appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor of the university is also expected shortly.
As per the notification, Punjab House, Resource Center Murree and adjoining 86 Kanal of government land have been transferred to the university.
Despite of general subjects, tourism and hospitality management will also be taught in the university while the campus will be located at the confluence of Kahuta and Kalar Syedan. The approval for the varsity was given by the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in January this year. The implementation was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, with the notification, the varsity might be operational for the academic year in August.
