The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied the rumors that Prime Minister Imran Khan is unhappy with Azhar Ali’s captaincy during England tour and intends to replace him as the Test captain.
Distinguished sports journalist, Sajid Sadiq, informed this in his tweet, quoting PCB.
PCB has described as rubbish rumours, reports that PM Imran Khan was unhappy with Azhar Ali's captaincy in England and wanted him sacked as Test captain #Cricket— Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) September 18, 2020
The occurrence came a day after it was reported on a number of news channels that a member of PCB’s Cricket Committee, Wasim Akram, had made a complaint to the Prime Minister Imran Khan with respect to Azhar Ali’s lack of leadership ability.
He supposedly blamed Azhar for Pakistan’s defeat against England at Manchester and advised the PM for a new Test captain instead of Azhar Ali.
Several former cricketers had criticized Azhar Ali for his defensive captaincy against England subsequent the team’s defeat despite being in a winning position.
