Pakistan prohibits five online dating apps including Tinder

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has banned access to five dating/live streaming applications namely as Tinder, Tagged, Skout, Grindr, and SayHi.

According to a statement released by the PTA apprised, “Keeping in view of negative effects of immoral/indecent content streaming through the above applications, PTA served notices to the management of aforementioned platforms for the purpose of eliminating dating services and to moderate live streaming content as per local laws of Pakistan”.

The above-mentioned platforms did not take any action to the notices served by the PTA within the stipulated time; therefore, the authority issued orders for banning of the said application.

“PTA can, however, reconsider banning of the aforementioned applications provided management of the companies gives surety adherence to the local laws with respect to moderating the indecent/immoral content through meaningful engagement,” read the press release
